165 Distressed OFWs Receive PHP 8.3 Million in AKSYON Fund Aid from DMW-NCR

Philippines – The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) handed out more than PHP 8.3 million in AKSYON Fund assistance to 165 overseas Filipino workers facing distress. The distribution took place on September 8 at the DMW Central Office in Mandaluyong City, giving immediate relief to workers and families caught in difficult situations.

According to a news report from the DMW-National Capital Region (DMW-NCR), the aid forms part of the agency’s ongoing effort to support OFWs during moments of crisis, emergency, or distress. The AKSYON Fund follows the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. under the UPLIFT initiative, which aims to protect the welfare and rights of Filipino workers abroad and their loved ones back home.

A Lifeline During Crisis

For many OFWs, unexpected emergencies can strike far from home, leaving them and their families with few options. The AKSYON Fund was created to close that gap. It provides quick financial help to workers who find themselves in urgent need, whether due to a medical crisis, a family emergency, or another distressing circumstance overseas.

The September 8 turnover reflects the government’s continuing commitment to standing beside Filipino workers when they need support the most. Each beneficiary received assistance meant to ease their immediate burdens and help them regain their footing.

A Message to Beneficiaries

During the event, DMW-NCR Regional Director Atty. Falconi Ace Millar shared the reminder of DMW Secretary Hans Leo J. Cacdac. He urged those who received aid to use it wisely and for its intended purpose.

“Mga kababayan, ang kabilin-bilinan ng ating butihing Kalihim ay ilagay natin sa mabuting bagay ang ating natanggap na AKSYON Fund assistance,” Atty. Millar said.

He also emphasized that the AKSYON Fund is part of a whole-of-government effort to recognize and uphold the welfare and rights of OFWs and their families. It is a reminder that Filipino workers abroad are never left to face hardship on their own.
