Philippines – A Filipino workers’ homecoming took an unexpected turn at the airport, where immigration officers flagged his name before he could step back into the country he left for work abroad.

Returning OFW Arrested at NAIA Terminal 1 Over Standing Warrant for Consented Abduction

What Happened at the Airport

A 43-year-old overseas Filipino worker was taken into custody at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1 on September 30, 2026. He had just arrived on an inbound flight from Muscat, Oman, when his name triggered an alert during the routine immigration check.

According to the PNP Aviation Security Group (AVSEGROUP), Bureau of Immigration (BI) personnel spotted his name on an Alert List Order (ALO) as he passed through the counters. Immigration officers quickly alerted AVSEGROUP’s NAIA Police Station 1 (NPS 1) and handed the passenger over for verification and further investigation.

How the Warrant Was Confirmed

Before making any move, authorities ran his details through the E-Warrant system. The check confirmed that an Alias Warrant of Arrest against him remained valid and had never been served.

That confirmation set the joint operation in motion. Here’s how the response came together:

  • Bureau of Immigration flagged the passenger and turned him over to NPS 1.
  • NPS 1 verified the alert and confirmed the active warrant through the E-Warrant system.
  • NPS 1 coordinated with the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group Regional Field Unit NCR-Southern Metro Manila District Field Unit (CIDG RFU NCR-SMMDFU) for the arrest.

The Charge and the Legal Details

The warrant was issued by the Regional Trial Court in Lingayen, Pangasinan. The OFW faces a charge of Consented Abduction under Article 343 of the Revised Penal Code, with bail set at Php10,000.00.

Officers arrested him at NPS 1 and read him his rights in Tagalog so he fully understood the offense he was facing. An Alternative Recording Device was used during the arrest to document the process. He was later turned over to CIDG RFU NCR-SMMDFU for proper documentation and disposition.

A Reminder for OFWs Heading Home

PNP AVSEGROUP Director PBGEN Dionisio B. Bartolome Jr. said the arrest reflects the group’s ongoing watchfulness.

“The operation demonstrates the Group’s sustained vigilance and coordination with partner agencies in ensuring that wanted persons are properly intercepted and placed under lawful custody.”

For OFWs with pending legal matters back home, this case is a clear reminder: unresolved warrants do not disappear while you work abroad. If you’re unsure about your standing, settling things through proper legal channels before you travel can save you a difficult surprise at the airport.
