Pasay City, Philippines – A 66-year-old Filipino-Canadian national was apprehended at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1 upon his arrival from Vancouver, Canada, on May 6, 2026. The arrest was carried out through a coordinated operation involving multiple law enforcement agencies.
According to a press release from the Philippine National Police Aviation Security Group (PNP AVSEGROUP), the operation was a joint effort between the PNP AVSEGROUP – NAIA Police Station 1 (NPS 1), the Nueva Ecija Police Provincial Office (PPO), the San Leonardo Municipal Police Station (MPS), and the Bureau of Immigration. The suspect was intercepted based on existing warrants of arrest for two counts of rape.
Coordinated Efforts Lead to Arrest
Authorities from the Nueva Ecija PPO and PNP AVSEGROUP worked closely with immigration officials to monitor the suspect’s arrival. Upon landing at NAIA Terminal 1, the individual was immediately identified and escorted to NPS 1 for the service of the warrants.
The warrants, issued on September 25, 2023, by the Regional Trial Court, Third Judicial Region in Angeles City, Pampanga, were for non-bailable offenses. The suspect, a resident of Nueva Ecija, was informed of his charges and constitutional rights in a language he understood. The entire process was documented using an Alternative Recording Device (ARD) to ensure compliance with standard procedures.
Turnover and Legal Proceedings
Following the arrest, the suspect was turned over to the custody of the Nueva Ecija PPO for further legal proceedings. The authorities emphasized that the operation underscores the importance of inter-agency collaboration in apprehending individuals with serious criminal charges.
