Philippines – A trip home turned into an arrest for a 73-year-old Filipino-American passenger who landed at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1 on August 9, 2026. The traveler, who flew in from Honolulu, Hawaii, was flagged during routine arrival processing after a warrant from more than a decade ago surfaced in the system.
How the Arrest Unfolded
According to a press release from the PNP Aviation Security Group (PNP AVSEGROUP), reference AVSEGROUP-PR-20260800-0179, the outstanding warrant appeared in the Bureau of Immigration (BI) database as the passenger cleared arrival checks. BI personnel quickly intercepted him and alerted NAIA Police Station 1 (NAIA PS 1).
After verifying his identity and the records, officers turned him over for investigation. The warrant was then jointly served with the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, NCRFU SMMDFU.
The Case Behind the Warrant
Court records point to a warrant issued on February 5, 2014. The charge falls under Republic Act No. 9262, the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act of 2004.

During questioning, the passenger admitted he already knew a case had been filed against him. He explained that he stopped sending financial support to his former partner after she allegedly demanded half of his salary.
That admission did little to change his situation. The years that passed did not erase the standing court order.

PBGEN Dionisio B. Bartolome Jr., Director of PNP AVSEGROUP, stressed that time does not weaken the reach of the law.
He said the passage of years is no barrier to carrying out court orders. He added that the group will keep strengthening its coordination with airport authorities and other agencies to make sure every active warrant is enforced, and that no one slips past the legal process.
Current Status
The accused is now under the custody of the CIDG, NCRFU SMMDFU. Authorities are handling the documentation and preparing the next steps in the legal process.
