Bangkok-Bound Passenger Arrested at NAIA 3 Over SSS Law Warrant From Silay City Court

Pasay, Philippines – A 36-year-old man hoping to board a flight to Bangkok, Thailand never made it past the departure gates at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3. Airport authorities arrested him on June 16, 2026, after a routine check flagged an outstanding warrant tied to a case in Negros Occidental.

According to a statement from the PNP Aviation Security Group (AVSEGROUP), the passenger was stopped at the International Departure Area while completing his exit clearance. The warrant against him came from a court in Silay City and stemmed from an alleged violation of the Social Security System (SSS) Law, also known as Republic Act No. 8282. Bail was set at ₱24,000.

Bangkok-Bound Passenger Arrested at NAIA 3 Over SSS Law Warrant From Silay City Court

How the Arrest Unfolded

The Bureau of Immigration was the first to spot the problem. While processing the traveler for departure, immigration officers picked up the active warrant and quickly alerted NAIA Police Station 3.

From there, the response moved fast. PNP AVSEGROUP personnel confirmed the details, took the passenger into custody, and escorted him to the police station for proper handling.

Here’s how the operation played out, step by step:

  • Bureau of Immigration flagged the warrant during departure processing
  • NAIA Police Station 3 was notified of the active court order
  • PNP AVSEGROUP verified the information and took custody
  • MPD Barbosa Police Station 14 served the warrant of arrest

Rights Read Before Custody

Warrant officers from the Manila Police District–Barbosa Police Station 14 formally served the arrest order. They explained the reason for the arrest and read the man his rights under the Miranda Doctrine. The entire procedure was logged using an Alternative Recording Device to keep everything by the book.

The accused is now held at MPD Barbosa PS 14. Officers are completing the paperwork and preparing to return the warrant to the issuing court in Silay City.

A Reminder for Departing Filipinos

The case is a clear signal that unsettled legal matters can surface at the airport, even at the final stage before boarding. For overseas Filipinos and frequent travelers, pending cases and unresolved obligations can put travel plans at risk.

PBGEN Dionisio B. Bartolome, Jr., Director of the PNP AVSEGROUP, summed up the agency’s stance.

“The successful enforcement of lawful court orders reflects our commitment to ensuring airport security and upholding the rule of law,” he said.

Authorities have not released the passenger’s name as documentation continues.
