How to Cook Filipino Pochero de Cebu

Steps to make Pochero de Cebu

  1. To begin the recipe, we must prepare the beef shank. Place it in a large pot and fill it with enough water to cover it completely. Over high heat, bring it to a boil – this is called blanching which removes any dirt or impurities from the beef meat and bones. Once boiling has occurred, discard that water – now you are ready for the next step!
  2. After blanching the beef, fill another pot with 6 cups of water, the beef shank, Knorr Beef Cubes, onions and pepper. Bring to a boil before reducing heat to simmer until the meat is fork-tender.  Bring to a boil, and remove scum that rises. Lower heat, cover and simmer/slow cook for 3 to 4 hours or until the beef tendons are tender.
  3. Now, carefully add the potatoes to the finger chilli and saba. Allow this combination to simmer until it becomes fork-tender.
  4. To complete this dish, add in the cabbage and let it simmer for at least two minutes. Viola! You have a delicious meal to enjoy.
