Pasay City, Philippines – Three individuals were arrested after allegedly pulling off a sophisticated fraud scheme inside a major casino in Newport City, resulting in losses amounting to approximately ₱750,000.
According to a press release from the Pasay City Police Station (Control No. 2026-849), the suspects were apprehended by operatives of Sub-Station 9 following a reported estafa incident at Newport World Resorts in Barangay 183.
Inside the Alleged Casino Fraud
Initial findings revealed that the incident took place around 3:53 PM on July 2, 2026, during an Ultimate Texas Hold’em Poker game. Authorities said the suspects allegedly worked together to manipulate the game in their favor.
Investigators disclosed that the assigned dealer reportedly exposed confidential game cards to the bettors, allowing them to gain an unfair advantage. This alleged inside manipulation enabled the group to win a substantial amount from the casino through fraudulent means.
The act falls under Violation of Article 315, Paragraph 3(b) of the Revised Penal Code, which penalizes estafa committed through fraudulent practices in gambling.
CCTV Detection Leads to Arrest
The suspicious activity did not go unnoticed. The casino’s Surveillance Department flagged irregularities during gameplay through CCTV monitoring. This prompted immediate coordination with the establishment’s Safety and Security Department.
The swift response led to the arrest of three suspects on-site. However, authorities confirmed that one more individual believed to be involved in the scheme remains at large.
Legal Process Underway
Following their arrest, the suspects were informed of their rights under the Miranda Doctrine. They were then brought to Pasay City General Hospital for medical examination before being turned over to the Investigation and Detective Management Section (IDMS) for proper documentation.
Authorities also initiated e-inquest proceedings before the Pasay City Prosecutor’s Office to determine the appropriate charges and legal actions against the suspects.

Police continue to investigate the case to identify the full extent of the operation and locate the remaining suspect. The incident highlights ongoing concerns over internal collusion and fraud in high-stakes gaming environments.
