65-Year-Old Alleged Filipina Kicked to the Ground in New York Attack

A 65-year-old Asian-American woman (alleged Filipina) was attacked and kicked repeatedly to the ground by a man in Midtown Manhattan, New York, USA on Monday, March 29, 2021. The suspect was reported to shout anti-Asian sentiments saying “f*** you, you don’t belong here”. CCTV footage shows graphic act of violence against the woman who was on her way to church.

According to US latest reports, the man has been arrested and has been identified as Brandon Elliot, 38 years old, who served 17 years in state prison for for fatally stabbing his mother when he was 19. He was released on lifetime parole in 2019.

Police authorities have been investigating the assault and found Elliott in a hotel that served as a homeless shelter. They took the suspect into custody.

The woman was brought to the hospital. Investigations are still ongoing.

Community leaders have gathered protesting the hate crime against Asians which have risen drastically. As per New York Police Department reports, Asian American Attacks have reached to 33 cases for the first 3 months of this year compared to 29 incidents last 2020 for the whole year.

Just this month, US President Joe Biden called out Americans to stop Asian Hate, citing the rise of crimes against Asian Americans especially during the pandemic.
