Philippines – A 47-year-old Filipino man never made it to his Hong Kong flight. Instead of boarding at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 on August 15, 2026, he was pulled aside and taken into custody after authorities matched his name to a court-issued alias warrant.
According to a statement from the PNP Aviation Security Group (AVSEGROUP), the interception happened right before his scheduled departure, capping off a fast-moving coordination between police units and airport officials.
How the Interception Unfolded
The tip on the outstanding warrant started far from the airport. The San Quintin Police Station in Pangasinan, working under the Pangasinan Police Provincial Office and Police Regional Office 1, flagged the passenger and passed the alert up the chain.
From there, several agencies moved together to make sure the traveler didn’t slip through:
- San Quintin Police Station – originating unit that held the warrant
- Pangasinan PPO and Police Regional Office 1 – coordinated the alert
- NAIA Police Station 3 and AVSEGROUP – handled the interception on the ground
- Bureau of Immigration – confirmed the passenger’s travel details
- The airline – assisted in identifying and holding the passenger
Once flagged, the man was escorted to NAIA PS 3 for verification before officers confirmed his identity.
The Charge and Bail
Personnel from the San Quintin Police Station later served the alias warrant in person. The case stems from an alleged violation of Section 5(e)2 of Republic Act No. 9262, better known as the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act of 2004.
The court set his recommended bail at PhP36,000.00.
Where the Case Stands Now
The accused is currently under the custody of the San Quintin Police Station. Officers are processing the documentation and preparing the case for the next legal steps.
Officials Point to Speed and Teamwork
For AVSEGROUP, the arrest shows why quick information-sharing matters at ports of exit.
“Mahalaga ang maagap na pagpapalitan ng impormasyon at mabilis na koordinasyon sa pagpapatupad ng mga warrant. Sa pagtutulungan ng AVSEGROUP katuwang ang ating airport authorities at mga local units, napipigilan nating makaalis ang mga indibidwal na may kinakaharap na kaso at naihaharap sila sa tamang proseso ng batas,” said PBGEN Dionisio B. Bartolome Jr., Director of the PNP AVSEGROUP.
For Filipinos preparing to work or travel abroad, the case is a clear reminder: pending legal matters back home can surface at the airport, even at the boarding gate.
