Returning US-Based Passenger Arrested at NAIA Terminal 3 Over Estafa, FDA Violation Warrants

Philippines – A male passenger who flew in from the United States found himself in handcuffs shortly after landing at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 in Pasay City on July 9, 2026. Immigration officers flagged several active arrest warrants under his name during routine screening, cutting his homecoming short.

According to an official statement from the PNP Aviation Security Group (PNP AVSEGROUP), the man was intercepted the moment his records surfaced during the standard verification process at the arrival area.

How the Arrest Unfolded

The passenger cleared his flight but not the watchful eyes of border authorities. As Bureau of Immigration (BI) personnel processed his entry, the system flagged multiple court-issued warrants tied to his identity.

Once officers confirmed the warrants were valid, the BI handed the passenger over to the PNP AVSEGROUP NAIA Police Station 3. He was then escorted to the station, where the arrest warrant was formally served.

The Charges He Faces

Court records show the passenger is wanted for two serious offenses:

  • Estafa under Article 315 (2)(a) of the Revised Penal Code, as amended by Republic Act No. 10951 — with a recommended bail of PhP114,000
  • Five counts of violating the Food and Drug Administration Act of 2009 (Republic Act No. 9711) — carrying a total fixed bail of PhP120,000

Together, these charges reflect the weight of the legal troubles waiting for him back home while he was overseas.

What Happens Next

For now, the accused stays under the custody of NAIA Police Station 3. Officers are completing the documentation and handling the proper turnover process. After that, the served warrants will be returned to the courts that issued them, allowing the cases to move forward.

A Clear Message to Fugitives

PBGEN Dionisio B. Bartolome Jr., Director of PNP AVSEGROUP, made it plain that airports will not serve as safe passage for anyone dodging the law.

He stressed that the country’s terminals will never be a refuge for those trying to escape accountability. Working hand in hand with airport authorities and local units, PNP AVSEGROUP is committed to making sure that anyone with a standing warrant is brought before the proper legal process.

For the many Filipinos abroad planning to return home, the case is a straightforward reminder: unresolved legal matters do not simply fade away with distance or time. Clearing your record before booking that flight back saves you from an unwelcome surprise at the arrival gate.
