Requirements in Renewing Your Passport

Once you have decided to stay in Macau or work there, it is crucial for you to keep and know what necessary forms you have to secure. The same goes for when you are renewing your passport. This would enable you to get a step ahead since the embassy advises you to process the renewal of your passport at least eleven months before the expiration of your document.

1. Apply for an appointment

Effective March 22, 2020, all passport services require an appointment using this website (https://macaupcgpassport.timetap.com). This improves the passport services process to avoid long lines and waiting time. You will receive a confirmation of the email you gave once you have set an appointment.

Only senior citizens, minors (7 years and below), persons with disabilities, and pregnant women are exempted from making an appointment.

Only one reservation per applicant is allowed when making an appointment. All subsequent reservations will automatically be forfeited. Those who made multiple reservations to block different dates will be blocked on making an appointment.

2. Prepare your documents

It is good practice to secure all the required papers ahead of time, especially for something as important as a passport. All forms are free and downloadable on the official website of the embassy. The following are the needed documents for passport renewal:

 Your original passport for renewal;

  •  a photocopy of the data page from your old passport;
  •  an identification card prescribed by the DFA and its photocopy;
  •  and a filled-out E-Passport application form.

When filling out forms during your appointment application, make sure that you provide correct data and provide active and updated contact details.

3. Your personal appearance is needed

It is crucial that you show up on the day of your appointment. On your scheduled reservation, you will be asked to surrender the necessary papers for verification and authentication, payment of fees, as well as capturing of biometrics. If for some reason you fail to show on your appointment, you must schedule another date online.

Also, only those with confirmed appointments will be allowed inside the AIA Tower. Companions restricted except for applicants who are minors, pregnant women, PWD, and senior citizens.

4. Pay your fees

On the day of your appointment, pay a fee of MOP 528 for the processing. If you have any document that needs photocopying, you will be paying 1 MOP per page. The embassy would only be accepting cash payments as part of government regulations.

5. Wait for your passport

After appearing on your appointment and submitting all your papers, it would take 45 calendar days until the release of your passport. Only the applicant or an immediate family member with an authorization letter, identification card, the original old passport, and original claim stub may claim the renewed passport.

If the applicant is a minor, the renewed passport is released to any parent. If the applicant is illegitimate, the mother of the applicant or they themself may claim the new passport upon presenting the original claim stub and original passport or identification of the parent.
