Guide to Applying for a New Passport at the Philippine Embassy in New Zealand (in Wellington)
Common Requirements and Guidelines:
Applicants should wait for 8-12 weeks for the passport to be processed and to arrive from the Central Office.
Needless to say, renewing your Philippine passport needs to be done personally. Make sure that you will book your appointment with the Philippine Embassy since no walk-ins are allowed or entertained. Be sure to call 04-890-3471 to book your official appointment with the Embassy’s staff.
To ensure that everything would be done properly, it is often advised to allocate three days for your visit to Wellington. Be sure that the following requirements are with you:
- A duly filled-up passport application form (downloadable here) has to be presented.
- The original passport must also be presented.
- Photocopy of the passport data page should also be presented.
- A signed courier bag for the delivery of the passport to your registered address.
- Payment of the applicable consular fees (click here for the list) for the transactions. Please be reminded that if the payment will be done in US Dollars, there will be an additional NZD 35 for payment of the incurred bank transactions on your behalf.
Additional Requirements for Minors
Applicants should bring the following additional requirements:
- For First-time applicants: Provide a copy of the NSO or PSA Birth Certificate (for those born in the Philippines) or Report of Birth for those born in New Zealand)
- For Renewal of Passport: Photocopy of parents’ passports
- Any other requirements upon the suggestion of the Embassy
Additional Requirements for Married Women
Applicants should bring the following additional requirements:
- If married in the Philippines: Provide a copy of the NSO or PSA Marriage Certificate.
- If married in New Zealand or in foreign territories: Provide a copy of the Report of Marriage duly authenticated by the Philippine Embassy where the marriage was listed.
- If annulled: Present the Marriage Contract with the annotation on the nullity of marriage.
- If widowed: Present the Death Certificate of the husband duly authenticated by the proper authorities.
- Any other requirements upon the suggestion of the Embassy
Additional Requirements for Dual Citizens
Applicants should bring the following additional requirements:
- Identity Certificate
- Any other requirements upon the suggestion of the Embassy
Additional Requirements for Lost Passports
Applicants should allow 8-12 weeks for processing plus an additional 15-day waiting and verification period. Applicants should bring the following additional requirements:
- Affidavit of Loss with an original stamp of the Justice of Peace
- Original copy of the Police Report
- Photocopy of the lost passport (if available)
- Any other requirements based on your particular case, aside from the common requirements.
It is also required by the Philippine Embassy that applicants should arrive wearing a shirt with collar for data capturing purposes. Furthermore, the Philippine Embassy does not assume any responsibility for lost or misdirected mail while the documents are in the custody of the courier service company.
