Canada – According to a report, citing a June 24 video interview posted by Global News and information from the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLGC), a brother and sister working in Canada won CAD75 million or ₱3.1 Billion in the Lotto Max draw held on March 3, 2026.
The amount is roughly equivalent to PHP3.2 billion, making it one of the most talked-about recent lottery stories for overseas workers abroad.
Siblings Introduced After Privacy-Protected Payout
The winners were identified only as Jonathan R. and Mylene P., with Canadian lottery officials withholding their full surnames due to privacy concerns. In a May 2026 report referenced by PEP.ph, the OLGC described them as the first brother-and-sister pair to win a major jackpot under the organization.
Their nationality was not officially disclosed. However, the report noted that online viewers and some netizens speculated that the two may be Filipinos based on their speech, appearance, and public reaction to the interview. That detail remains unconfirmed in the official lottery release.
Jonathan First Thought the Prize Was Much Smaller
Jonathan recalled that he checked the ticket early in the morning by scanning it on his phone. At first, he believed he had won only CAD75,000. He then double-checked the figure, got his eyeglasses, and realized the prize was actually CAD75 million.
He immediately woke up his sister, Mylene, who responded with relief and excitement after years of trying their luck using number combinations that held personal meaning for them. The siblings had reportedly been playing the same favored numbers for around two years before finally hitting the jackpot.
Years of Hard Work Led to a Life-Changing Moment
Mylene shared in the interview that she went to Canada to improve life for her family and later brought her brother there to help. She also said she had been carrying the responsibility of being the family breadwinner while working two jobs, and at times even three.
That part of the story resonated strongly with many Filipinos overseas, especially migrant workers familiar with the pressure of supporting relatives back home while building a future abroad.
Family, Travel, and Giving Back Top Their Plans
After the win, the siblings said they plan to help their family, travel, and invest in long-held dreams. Mylene spoke about visiting countries such as Germany, Australia, Japan, and the United States, while also hoping to build a dream house for loved ones.
Jonathan, meanwhile, said he wants to support his family back home and build a small chapel in their place. Mylene also said she hopes to continue helping other people, suggesting that their sudden fortune will not take them away from the values that shaped their journey abroad.
