A Filipina household service worker in Kuwait, 53-year-old Edna L., won a brand-new car from Korooti, a company based in Dubai. A native of Pampanga, she has been working abroad for 16 years. Her prize? A brand-new Subaru XV, which costs PHP 1 million (AED 80,000)!
Edna’s winning Korooti VIP Card number, 233285, was drawn in a grand raffle last May 17, 2018. Korooti’s CEO, Tariq Farekh, graced the event, along with representatives from Kabayan Weekly, Subaru, and the Dubai Department of Economic Development.

For 16 years now, Edna has been working for the same employer in Kuwait. When asked about what she plans to do with her prize, she mentioned that her sponsor’s sibling will purchase it from her. She will then use the money to invest in a house and a car in the Philippines.
“I was surprised when I found out I won the raffle and when I told my sponsor about it, they thought I was going to go home to the Philippines for good,” she said. “I’ve decided to sell the SUV so I could use the money to invest in a house and get another car in the Philippines.”
