According to Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III, Germany is in need of 750 trained Filipino nurses to help meet the country’s growing demand for healthcare workers.

The job postings are part of the Triple Win project, a government-to-government collaboration overseen by the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA).
750 Filipino Nurses Needed in Germany
On Thursday (August 13), Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III revealed that Germany chose to hire more Filipino nurses to meet its healthcare shortage, the Manila Times reported.
“This is to cater [to] the urgent need of the International Placement Service of the German Federal Employment Agency (ZAV/BA) of registered nurses to fill up the 750 vacancies for ICU, geriatric care or elderly care, general wards, medical and surgery wards, operating room, neurology, orthopedics, and psychiatry,” he said.
Since 2013, the POEA, an attaché of the Department of Labor and Employment (DoLE), has sent over 1,000 nurses to Germany via the government-to-government hiring system, which offers a streamlined application process and ensures the safety of Filipino nurses.
Interested applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria:
- A Filipino citizen and permanent resident of the Philippines
- with a Bachelor’s degree of Science in Nursing, and
- at least one year of related experience in hospitals, rehabilitation facilities, or other health care organizations.
Interested applicants must have German language competency and be willing to participate in ZAV/BA-funded German language training between November 2021 and January 2022 in order to attain a B1 or B2 Language Proficiency Level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
If the candidate passes the A2 and B1 language examinations on the first try, they will receive a bonus payment of €250. In addition, the company will cover the cost of the employee’s visa and airfare from the Philippines to Germany, as well as assisting the employee in finding acceptable housing. The chosen nurse will cover the costs of board and accommodation in full or in part.

Ople Bldg. (previously POEA Bldg.), Ortigas Avenue corner EDSA, Mandaluyong City.
Here are the requirements to apply for the program:
- A cover letter and curriculum vitae with colored passport size picture;
- Nursing Diploma (notarized copy);
- Board Certificate and copy of license from the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC);
- certificates of employment in related field (previous and current) (notarized copy);
- attendance and/or level certificate for German language, if available; and
- valid passport copy (at least 6 months valid upon submission of application.
All documents must be placed in a folder labeled RSF 210007, applicant’s name, position sought, destination country, PEOS online number, and E-registration number.
Before sending the resume to the employer, all applicants must show their original documents for authentication of written information.
The deadline for applications from POEA Regional Offices is August 27, 2021, and for applicants from the Central Office is August 31, 2021.
