Overseas Workers Welfare Administration or OWWA provides cash aid to Overseas Filipino Workers. They will hand out additional help by giving cash to displaced OFWs which was combined with the additional funds worth of 1 Billion PHP.

The Philippine Government is always finding solutions to our fellow OFWs by supporting them of their needs. A cash aid program is established to further help the distressed OFWs and aid them during the pandemic times.
OWWA Gives Cash Assistance To 100, 000 Dismissed OFWs
During the Laging Handa Briefing, the chief of OWWA, Hans Leo Cacdac stated there are 100,000 OFWs were affected by the pandemic Covid-19. Every Filipino worker outside the Philippines is eligible to receive the one-time cash assistance from the Abot Kamay ang Pagtulong (AKAP) program by the Department of Labor And Employment (DOLE).
OWWA Chief Hans said, that the Department of Budget and Management has set out an additional 1B PHP for DOLE’s AKAP program. So there will be 100, 000 more beneficiaries that will take advantage of the program.
He added, they are aiming to disperse the cash assistance to OFWs starting next week. “Starting this coming week, we will continue to approve applications it would be like part three of the DOLE-AKAP”
Hans stated that 230, 000 OFWs were initially given for the DOLE-AKAP with a budget amount of 2B PHP.
The cash assistance program’s purpose is for Filipino workers who are struggling in their current situation. The cash aid is for land-based, sea-based, and returning workers.
Recently, DOLE reported around 560, 000 applications for the cash assistance program.
