Repatriated OFWs Urged to Update Voter Records Before August 31

The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) on Thursday reminded repatriated overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) that they have until August 31 (Tuesday) to update their voter registration records locally.

Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez cited Resolution No. 10677, mandating the transfer of voter registration records from abroad to the Philippines only until August 31.

Repatriated OFWs: Transfer Voter Records Until Aug 31 – Comelec

In a report from the Philippine News Agency, Jimenez said: “We’ve been having a very intensive campaign among OFWs asking them to transfer their registration (locally) because their deadline is August 31.”

“Our Comelec office in Intramuros is open even with the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) and MECQ to accommodate those who will apply for transfer,” he added.

Meantime, those who wish to register as overseas voters can do so until September 30.

“If they will get registered for the first time, they can visit the Philippine embassies and consulates to get registered,” Jimenez said.
