Katas ng OFW Caregiver in Israel: 2-Storey Dream House

After many years of working abroad, one of the things that most overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) focus on is building their very own dream house. It’s a place where their family can live comfortably, and where they will eventually retire when they return home “for good.”

The following article features an OFW — a caregiver in Israel — who was able to build a dream house for her family. She also happens to be a vlogger with 53K subscribers on YouTube! Let’s get to know more about Emz Amita and her “dream house” story.

“I love traveling and doing stuff, that’s why I created this channel and wish that my subscribers would learn from each video I uploaded,” Emz wrote on her YouTube channel. Her videos include topics such as “A Day in My Life as a Caregiver,” “Tips Para Magkabahay,” “Paano Ako Nakarating ng Israel,” and many other interesting topics.

One of her most-watched videos focuses on her house in the Philippines. “Dream House Journey Step by Step” (August to December 2019) is actually a 4-part video series featuring the construction of her dream home, from start to finish.

The first video in the series, “Our Dream House Step by Step Story,” includes a picture of their old house, where the new one now stands. It also presents the initial construction stages. You can watch the video below, as shared via Emz Amita’s YouTube Channel:

The second video, “Update sa Aming Dream House,” shows the ongoing construction of Emz’ house. The vlogger also shared some reflections about her experience.

Sa 13 years namin bilang mag-asawa, naka pitong lipat bahay na kami gawa ng nangungupahan lang kami noon (Within 13 years of marriage, we had moved 7 times because we used to rent only),” Emz stated. “Mahirap dahil pati ang bata apektado gawa ng halos yearly iba-iba siya ng school (It was hard because our child was affected, he had to change schools almost every year).”

Fortunately, now that they have their own home, Emz and her family will never have to worry about renting or moving houses again. Check out her video update below:

The third video, “Empty House Tour,” was taken while Emz was on vacation in the Philippines. By this time, house construction had been completed, with only minor finishes to be done. Notably, the layout and design were based on Emz’ and her husband’s ideas.

Tunay ngang masarap pala sa pakiramdam kapag lahat ng idea galing sa inyo, mula sa layout ng bahay, sukat ng bintana, etc. (It truly feels good when all the ideas came from yourselves, such as the house layout, size of the windows, etc.),” Emz had stated.

Finally, the fourth video is titled “Official House Tour.” Here, Emz provides more details about the house furnishings, which include Korean blinds on the windows, a mini bar, the spacious bathroom, her son’s room, the master’s bedroom, and other areas.

All in all, they had spent about PHP 1.3 million, and she gave more specific details in the video:

Lahat ng pangarap natin matutupad basta may sipag, tiyaga, at samahan ng panalangin (All our dreams can come true as long as we have diligence, patience, and prayer),” Emz stated. “Kung nakaya ko, I know kaya niyo din (If I could do it, I know you can, too).”

Congratulations, Emz, on your beautiful house. It is truly heartwarming to see our fellow kababayans succeed and achieve their dreams. We know that many Filipinos are inspired — and will continue to be inspired — by your dream house story. Keep up the great work!
