According to officials of the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), there are job opportunities for Filipinos in various countries, such as Portugal, Guam, and Canada.
Zaldy Patron, the Philippine consul general in Calgary, noted that there is a shortage of Filipino nurses in Alberta and Saskatchewan.

According to ConGen Patron, a memorandum of understanding was signed to address the issue of the shortage of Filipino nurses in Alberta. It aims to address the needs of medical technicians and nurses, ABS-CBN News reported.
He noted that the recruitment of Filipinos in the province of Saskatchewan is still ongoing.
The DMW and the Alberta government signed a memorandum of understanding to address the issue of the shortage of Filipino workers in the province.
“Sa Saskatchewan naman, ang proposal natin na MOU sa kaniya ay for the healthcare workers so mas broader ‘yong Saskatchewan,” added Patron.
As of posting time, there is currently no specific number of Filipinos needed in the province of Saskatchewan.
In Guam, construction firms are in need of skilled workers such as engineers, masons, and carpenters. On the other hand, in Portugal, there is a shortage of highly skilled individuals.
“Kagaya po ng ating OFWs (overseas Filipino workers) na naga-apply ng trabaho abroad, mag-e-register lang tayo sa dmw.gov.ph tapos po ‘yong mga specific na requirements para sa bawat kategorya ng trabaho ay i-specify po ng ating mga employer,” mentioned DMW Assistant Secretary Levinson Alcantara.
