Requirements in Renewing Your Philippine Passport

Passport renewal is one of the most crucial parts that you need to comply with, especially when you are currently staying outside the borders of the Philippines. However, you don’t need to worry too much about being burdened by countless paperwork since some of these documents can be done and available online, and others are already at hand. Thus, you still have to prepare every requirement for your passport renewal to avoid last-minute complications and thereby waste your time. To have a smooth and easy passport renewal process, here are the requirements you should take note of beforehand:

Personal Appearance

All the applicants for a passport renewal must appear personally in the embassy for the picture taking, signature, and thumb printing. Thus, you are obligated to wear decent clothes. You must remove your eyeglasses, hair accessories, earrings, necklaces, and other unnecessary accessories as this might alter your appearance in the I.D.

Accomplished e-passport application form and other requirements

In renewing your passport, you need to prepare all the documents and fill in all the necessary information in the paper before you proceed to the embassy. Everything you put must be your active contact information, including your contact number and email address, as these will be the effective ways for you to be reached out by the embassy or the consulate. Aside from this, you also have to prepare an original Philippine passport, a photocopy of the passport’s data page, and an original and photocopy of a valid visa. All of these are what you need to secure in one envelope for you not to miss out on any required documents during your passport renewal.

Passport Renewal Fee

For your passport to be renewed entirely, you have to prepare EUR 54.00 for the fee.

Additional Requirements

The Philippine Embassy in Austria might require you to provide other requirements for further validation of your passport renewal. However, you have to note that you already have some of these documents, and you don’t need to give a new one, or if you haven’t compiled one of those added specifications, you need to request it in the embassy to ensure that your renewal process will not be troubled. Important Things To Remember

The COVID-19 virus is still threatening the lives of everyone; thus, you have to make sure that when you visit the Embassy, you follow all the health protocols, such as wearing your face mask, always bring your alcohol, and distance yourself from the crowd. All of these will guarantee to keep you safe while processing your passport renewal. Aside from this, you must be reminded that if your passport is not an e-passport or has been mutilated, expired recently, or misplaced, you may inquire with the Philippine Embassy to know the requirements, or you can also click this link http://www.viennape.dfa.gov.ph/index.php/consular-services/epassport-forms-and-requirements.

The Philippine Embassy will not cancel your old passport until you already receive your new and the canceled passport. Also, you have to remember that you need to bring cash when paying the renewal fee since the embassy will only accept cash payments. Above all, as we are all quarantined due to pandemics, you must be well-knowledgeable of all the requirements and prepared enough during your visit to the embassy for you not to be exposed longer in the public areas and save your time.
