A reminder to all employers to treat your workers with respect! Do not beat or abuse them! A video clip of a Filipina who has been abused an maltreated has gone viral. According to a news report from Philippines GMA News, a video was posted where a Filipina domestic helper in Saudi Arabia. has been allegedly maltreated and abused by her employer.

In the video, it has been shown that the Filipina is repeatedly being hit with a broom stick. The Arab employer kept shouting at her and berating her. The video also shows the Filipina being slapped, pushed around, and beaten. According to the Filipina victim, this is not the first time her employer had abused her. She recorded the video and posted it on social media.
When the employer learned about the post, that’s when he confronted the Filipina and also got a clothes iron.
This was the time when the Filipina left the house asked for help in a nearby restaurant where other people helped her. Thankfully, the Filipina victim is now under the care of the Philippine Overseas Labor Office while the suspect is now in jail.

The Filipina shared that she’s been with the employer for more than a year. Everything was okay when she first started her work. But after one year, the Filipina said that she started getting abused by her employer.

To all employers, please do not beat your workers. They are human beings also. Please treat them with respect. If you cannot handle them, then you can go through proper procedures according to the law in the country. Please do NOT beat them!
This is a terrible action that should not be tolerated. We hope our fellow OFWs will be aware that this abuse should not continue. Whatever the reason, this should not happen.
