Overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) who are returning to the country for good can now apply for technical-vocational (tech-voc) courses offered by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) upon arrival at international airports in the country.
This is made possible through the OFW Help Desks set up by TESDA at various international airports all over the country, such as the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) and the Mactan-Cebu International Airport.
OFWs Can Apply for TESDA’s Tech-Voc Courses Upon Arrival at PHL Airports
Upon arrival at the airport, OFWs can check out the courses offered by TESDA through the OFW Help Desks. Once they’ve decided on a course that suits their interests and skill sets, they will be referred for skills training. Also, OFWs can renew their National Certificate (NC) and Certificate of Competency (CoC) at the help desks.
The courses offered by TESDA for OFWs include tourism, infrastructure, land transportation courses, metals and engineering, as well as information and communications technology. Other fields and courses offered include automotive, healthcare services, air conditioning, heating, ventilation and refrigeration, language and culture, food and beverage processing, as well as semiconductor and electronics courses.
Other than enjoying free tuition, successful enrolees will also receive PHP 160 for their daily study allowance, instructional materials and resources allowance, free lodging and insurance, as well as free tool kits.
Since its establishment in May of this year, TESDA’s OFW Help Desks has already assisted almost 900 returning OFWs at various international airports in the country.
