The European Street Food Annual Awards is the most prominent street food competition in the world, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) stated in a press release.

Thousands applied to join and hundreds competed, but only 22 finalists from 15 countries reached the final round. Two finalists, Thrilla in Manila (Philippines) and Dhaba Kitchen (India) both won the Denmark leg of the Awards held last September 13-15 in Copenhagen.

According to one of the three judges, he had never seen so many votes during previous Street Food Awards, as compared to this year.

Thrilla in Manila is run by Filipino husband and wife, Alfie and Carmelita Escabarte. Aiming to be the first to offer Filipino food fusion in Denmark, they opened a food stall in May 2018. Their signature dish? Filipino barbecue! They also serve siopao, lumpia, and other specialties.
