According to the Editor-in-Chief of AirlineRatings.com, Geoffrey Thomas, PAL’s expansion into new generation, fuel-efficient aircraft with upgraded cabins makes it the best choice for this year’s “Most Improved Airline” category.

Meanwhile, PAL spokesperson Cielo Villaluna mentioned that AirlineRatings.com editors also commended the airline’s domestic and international expansion plans. These include new routes to Mumbai and New Delhi in India, as well as to Sapporo in Japan.

Earlier this year, PAL rolled out its brand new A321neo aircraft and Airbus A350. The 168-seater A321neo aircraft offers more leg room and cabin space, along with enhanced cabin layout and seat design. Staring this December, it will be used for PAL’s Manila-Sapporo route.

The Airbus 350, on the other hand, will be used for long-haul flights, such as PAL’s non-stop route from Manila to New York. This aircraft, which is quieter compared to most other planes, will also be used for the airline’s flights to North America and European destinations.

Notably, AirlineRatings.com named Singapore Airlines as “Airline of the Year.” Also included in the top 10 best airlines are: Air New Zealand, Qantas, Qatar Airways, Virgin Australia, Emirates, All Nippon Airways, EVA Air, Cathay Pacific Airways, and Japan Airlines.
